Australia advises avoiding all travel for Belarus.
Avoid all travel to Belarus. If you are already there, consider whether your presence is genuinely necessary and leave if it is not; keep your travel documents in order so you can depart quickly if needed.
Avoid all travel to Belarus because arbitrary enforcement of local laws and the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine create serious risks. Projectiles have landed in the Brest region near the Ukrainian border, while authorities target political opponents and journalists, surveil foreigners and may use force at demonstrations. If in Belarus, leave by commercial means because consular assistance is extremely limited.
Germany advises avoiding all travel for Belarus.
Avoid all travel to Belarus because of the security environment linked to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, politically motivated detention of foreigners, and restricted departure options. If already there, leave immediately over land via Latvia, Lithuania or Poland when safe, and avoid border regions with those countries except at crossings. Dual citizens liable for Belarusian military service may face exit restrictions, and consular assistance is extremely limited.
Japan advises citizens not to travel to Belarus. Near Ukraine's border, it advises stopping travel and evacuating because military clashes could cause major harm. It also advises do not travel throughout the rest of Belarus, citing sanctions, flight suspensions and possible border closures, and concern about danger to Japanese nationals. Avoid photographing government and transport facilities or political demonstrations, as authorities may detain or arrest people, and consider leaving early.
Avoid all travel to Belarus because the war in Ukraine, worsening relations with EU states, and unpredictable enforcement of laws can rapidly change security conditions. Border crossings may close or become restricted without notice, and authorities monitor political activity, statements and communications; avoid political rallies, demonstrations and public gatherings because detention is possible. Pickpocketing occurs, infectious diseases are present, and Chernobyl contamination remains a concern, especially in Gomel Region.
Avoid all travel to Belarus because of the security situation in the region. The advice covers tourist and visiting trips, work trips and all other travel, and remains in force until further notice.
Avoid all travel to Belarus. If travel is nevertheless undertaken, British nationals must meet visa, medical insurance, funds and customs requirements, while journalists need accreditation. The land border with Ukraine is closed to British nationals, the Poland border has reopened, and other land borders are restricted; visa-free entry does not apply when travelling directly to or from Russia.
Avoid all travel to Belarus because unrest, arbitrary detention and mistreatment create risks, while U.S. help is limited. Dual citizens may be prevented from leaving or forced into military service. Avoid demonstrations, where authorities use excessive force and may arrest or mistreat bystanders. Assume electronic communications and devices are monitored, while scarce flights, sudden border closures and U.S. aviation restrictions in the Minsk Flight Information Region may impede departure.
Avoid non-essential travel to Belarus and do not travel to the red zone along the Ukrainian border, where military personnel, landmines and other explosives make conditions dangerous and unpredictable. The rest of Belarus is orange, so travel only when necessary. Risks include arbitrary arrest and imprisonment for criticism or opposition activity, strict drug penalties, crime, discrimination and aggression against LGBTQ+ people, and demonstrations. Radioactive areas in the southeast require special permission.
Avoid non-essential travel to Belarus because of the high security risk nationwide and restrictions linked to Ukraine may change rapidly. All border crossings with Ukraine and some crossings with the EU are closed, with short-term closures possible, and no direct flights from Europe operate. Police actions may occur throughout Belarus. Avoid demonstrations, crowds and rallies, obey security instructions, and note that independent information may be limited.
