What each government says

Its level on one scale, its own wording, and a summary of its advice written from its own text

Japan13 in parts
Level 1 for the whole country: take sufficient care; level 3 or 4 for named regions: do not travel, or evacuate

Japan advises a high degree of caution for Congo, and avoiding all travel for parts of it.

Level since 29 Oct 2026
Slovenia13 in parts
Increased caution; highest caution: avoid all travel or leave for named regions

Exercise increased caution due to health risks, rebel attacks, banditry and crime. Avoid all travel within 50 km of the Central African Republic border in Likoula, and avoid unnecessary travel to Pool and Mouyondzi district in Bouenza. Pool road travel requires advance army permission, and vessels on the Ubangi River face armed attacks. In Brazzaville and Pointe Noire, secure valuables, avoid walking alone at night and fly between cities.

United Kingdom13 in parts
Avoid all travel to parts

Avoid all travel to parts of the Republic of Congo. In Likouala, avoid all travel within 50km of the CAR border due to violence, crime and insecurity linked to instability there. In Pool Region, Ninja insurgent clashes could resume without notice, particularly in Boko and Kinda districts. A visa and yellow fever certificate are required; facilities are limited and evacuation is likely for all but basic treatment.

Monitor health after returning from an Ebola-affected area or neighbouring country, and check whether yellow fever or polio vaccination is required.

Colour code yellow: pay attention, there are safety risks; orange (essential travel only) for named regions

Travel only to orange coded areas if essential, because holiday travel is unsafe and consular help is limited amid armed conflict, crime, human trafficking, military operations, rebellions, armed robberies and unrest. Elsewhere in the Republic of Congo, exercise caution for terrorism, crime, extortion, road checks, landslides and floods, and avoid demonstrations and crowds. On the N1, travel only by day and remain on the main road.
