Hong Kong advises normal precautions for Faroe Islands.
Exercise normal precautions in the Faroe Islands, where crime is low and no significant security concerns are identified. Rapid weather changes can make driving, hiking and sailing hazardous; use reputable licensed operators because search-and-rescue is limited and may be charged. Obtain comprehensive insurance as serious illness may require evacuation to Denmark or Iceland, and expect increased security during the whaling season.
Take normal precautions when travelling to the Faroe Islands. Drugs, including soft drugs, are prohibited and penalties are heavier than in the Netherlands. Medical care is good but limited, and serious illness or injury may require transfer to Scotland or Norway, so obtain suitable travel insurance. Carry a valid passport or ID card, bring medicines in their original packaging, and note that Dutch citizens do not need a visa.
Exercise usual precautions in the Faroe Islands. The risk is not increased; crime and the likelihood of a terrorist attack are very low. Check documents, insurance and entry conditions, and follow rules on long-term stays, customs, pets and driving, including narrow roads and tunnels; drone rules apply near Vágar airport. In winter, monitor weather forecasts, avoid hiking without a local guide, and avoid remote destinations because conditions change rapidly.
