Australia advises a high degree of caution for United Kingdom.
Austria advises caution throughout the United Kingdom because the authorities rate the terrorist threat as severe and consider attacks very likely. In Northern Ireland, local violence may flare into violent clashes during the marching season. Nighttime robberies and pickpocketing are particularly associated with large cities, so take standard security precautions, avoid displaying expensive jewellery or watches, and report suspicious items on public transport to police.
Exercise a high degree of caution throughout the United Kingdom because of the threat of terrorism, including attacks in public places and transport hubs. Previous attacks occurred mainly in the London area, but also elsewhere, and Northern Ireland has a separate threat level. Stay alert for violent demonstrations, petty and violent crime, spiked food and drinks, card fraud and cybercrime, especially in crowded tourist areas.
Exercise caution when visiting or already staying in the United Kingdom because attacks, including knife attacks, vehicle attacks and explosions, have caused injuries or casualties. Monitor the situation, attend to personal safety, avoid large gatherings and pay attention to local announcements. The advice identifies a substantial terrorism threat and protests and riots involving violent clashes.
Exercise increased caution in the United Kingdom because of the risk of terrorist attacks. Isolated violence by dissident groups is a concern in Northern Ireland, where these groups mainly target police and military. Petty crime is common, especially in popular tourist locations, so remain aware of your surroundings because crimes against foreigners are often opportunistic, such as purse or cellphone snatching and pickpocketing.
Belgium advises extra vigilance when travelling to the United Kingdom because the terrorism threat level is high and a terrorist attack is very likely. Be particularly vigilant on public transport and at major tourist attractions, while travel is generally safe with usual precautions.
Exercise normal precautions; most Danish visitors have no problems. Stay alert to terrorist attacks in crowded tourist places. Pickpocketing, phone theft and other crime are more common in London and other large cities; guard drinks against spiking. Avoid demonstrations, watch for floods and landslides near coasts and rivers, remember left-hand traffic, use authorised taxis, and follow local laws, which differ across the UK. The advice excludes the British Overseas Territories.
Normal precautions apply, but Estonian citizens need an electronic travel authorisation and a valid passport for entry and transit. An ETA is not required when remaining in the transit zone at Manchester or London Heathrow Airport, but a passport is. Be alert to antisemitic attacks and the serious terrorism threat, and report suspicious activity. Check visa requirements for work or study, driving documents and road rules, and consider travel insurance.
Germany advises normal precautions for United Kingdom.
Travel to the United Kingdom is safe, but strict entry rules apply. EU citizens making visa exempt stays under six months need an electronic travel authorisation, including for most transit. It is unnecessary when transiting Heathrow or Manchester international zones without passport control, but carriers may refuse boarding without a valid passport and any required authorisation. Pork, beef, other ruminant meat and dairy imports are restricted, with confiscation and fines possible.
Travel to Great Britain on normal precautions because its security environment resembles Ireland, although laws and customs differ. The terrorist threat is rated severe, meaning an attack remains highly likely, including against civilians, worship sites, gatherings and tourist areas. Crime is relatively low. Most airlines and ferries require Irish citizens travelling between Ireland and the UK to carry a valid Irish passport or passport card.
Japan advises normal precautions for United Kingdom.
Take normal precautions but remain alert to terrorism, because the United Kingdom's threat level is severe and an attack is considered very likely, while Northern Ireland has a lower threat level. Be alert to pickpockets and other petty crime in large cities and busy tourist areas. Follow local authorities' instructions and prepare against robbery or deception. Drugs, including soft drugs, are illegal with heavier penalties than in the Netherlands.
Singapore advises normal precautions when travelling to the United Kingdom. Remain alert to terrorism, including Northern Ireland-related groups, suspicious behaviour and unattended bags, and follow official warnings. Petty crime such as pickpocketing occurs especially in crowded tourist locations; use licensed or pre-booked transport because unlicensed drivers may rob or assault travellers. Guard against online scams and police impostors; in London, a legitimate officer will never demand immediate cash payment.
Use normal precautions, but monitor local media because a terrorist attack is considered highly likely. Be especially careful on public transport, at synagogues and other places of worship, in Jewish districts, and at tourist sites, markets, shopping centres, restaurants, major events and transport hubs. Avoid demonstrations, watch for phone theft and scams, and take care in deprived city areas and central London. Violence is sporadic in Northern Ireland.
