Not on the list; on the travel-not-recommended list for named regions; hu class
Avoid non-essential travel to Cabo Delgado, Nampula and Niassa, which are not recommended for travel. Throughout the country, poor roads, ageing vehicles and unsafe driving increase accident risks, while police corruption, unofficial transport and coastal travel in vehicles carrying only foreigners add danger. Avoid walking at night, even in the capital. Healthcare is limited, HIV is a major risk, yellow fever vaccination is compulsory, and consular help is difficult.
Security level 2: security risk; security level 4: travel warning for named regions
Avoid travel to Cabo Delgado Province, especially its northeastern districts and offshore islands, and to Erati and Memba in Nampula Province, due to repeated Islamist attacks, clashes with security forces, terrorism and widespread crime. Elsewhere in Mozambique, exercise caution, avoid crowds and nighttime road travel, and expect increased controls. Urban violent crime is high, ransom kidnappings occur in Maputo, and the Ressano Garcia/Lebombo crossing has repeatedly closed during protests.
Germany advises a high degree of caution for Mozambique, and avoiding all travel for parts of it.

Level 1 for the whole country: take sufficient care; level 3 or 4 for named regions: do not travel, or evacuate
Do not travel to Cabo Delgado outside Pemba and to Memba and Erati districts in Nampula because armed group attacks continue. Avoid unnecessary travel to Pemba and Mecula District in Niassa because armed group attacks may occur. Take sufficient care in Maputo and other downgraded areas, where post election protests appear to have subsided.

Colour code yellow: pay attention, there are safety risks; red (do not travel) for named regions
Do not travel to red districts in Cabo Delgado because armed groups and the army are fighting, and the embassy cannot help travellers in trouble. Travel only if essential, not for holidays, to orange districts in southern and western Cabo Delgado and to Erati and Memba in Nampula, where terrorist attacks are increasing. Pemba and surroundings are yellow; elsewhere, risks include terrorism, armed robbery, piracy, discrimination, flooding and storms.

Avoid all but essential travel to parts; avoid all travel to parts
Advice is to avoid all travel to some parts of Mozambique and all but essential travel to other parts. Border crossings may close at short notice, crossings can take a long time to clear, and armed robberies occur near the Lebombo border in Nelspruit, especially after dark. British passport holders need an ETA before travel and may be asked for proof of accommodation, onward travel and sufficient funds.

Level 2: exercise increased caution; do not travel to named regions
Exercise increased caution in Mozambique due to terrorism, crime, weak health services and unrest. Terrorist groups in the north may attack public and tourist sites with little warning, take hostages and target upscale remote lodges; violent and petty crime are common, medicines can be scarce, and protests may turn violent and block roads. Do not travel to Cabo Delgado Province, Niassa Special Reserve or certain northern districts of Nampula Province.

Estonia2Avoid non-essential
Ee level 2
Avoid non-essential travel to Mozambique because the political situation remains tense and unstable. Demonstrations and public gatherings may quickly become unexpectedly violent, so avoid all such gatherings and follow local authorities. Avoid rural areas and road travel between cities and provinces because routes to airports and border crossings may be blocked. Do not travel to Cabo Delgado Province because of attacks by groups linked to Islamic extremism.

Slovenia2Avoid non-essential
High caution: avoid non-essential travel
Avoid non-essential travel to Mozambique because terrorism, protests and violent unrest, crime, kidnapping and maritime piracy pose serious risks. Do not travel to the Tanzania border area in Cabo Delgado, Niassa Province, or the Erati and Memba districts in Nampula, where attacks have caused thousands to flee. Mines may remain in remote parts of Sofala, Tete, Manica, Gaza, Inhambane and Maputo.

Canada1High caution
Exercise a high degree of caution; regional advisory
Exercise a high degree of caution throughout Mozambique because of crime, demonstrations and violent spillovers, kidnappings, and terrorism. Avoid all travel to Cabo Delgado Province and the Erati and Memba districts of Nampula Province, and avoid non-essential travel to Pemba City and the Marrupa and Mecula districts of Niassa Province. Militant attacks, armed robbery, theft, and dangerous traffic near the South African border are also concerns.
Travel to northern Mozambique only when absolutely necessary because security has deteriorated, particularly in Cabo Delgado, Nampula and Niassa. Islamist groups repeatedly attack security forces and civilians in Cabo Delgado, northern Nampula, and the Mecula and Marrupo districts of Niassa, where heightened security measures and checkpoints are in place. Czech citizens in northern Mozambique should monitor local media and local conditions and follow security forces' instructions.

No advice against travel
No advice against travel applies generally, but strongly avoid Cabo Delgado, eastern Niassa's Marrupa and Mecula districts, and northern Nampula's Erati and Memba districts because of terrorist attacks and military operations. Uncertain fuel availability may cause shortages and transport disruption, while social tensions can spark unpredictable protests, so avoid demonstrations. Prepare for the rainy and cyclone season, with a wetter north and drier, hotter south and centre.
