Be aware; be extra careful for named regions
Use normal precautions, remain alert to suspicious behaviour and be aware of terror attacks. Pickpocketing occurs in cities such as Warsaw, while theft, drink spiking, assault, racist or homophobic violence, and hacking on public networks are risks. Nightlife, demonstrations, heavy traffic and flooding in southern Poland require particular caution. Do not enter the restricted zone along the Belarusian border near Narewka, Białowieża, Dubicze Cerkiewne and Czeremcha.
Exercise normal precautions but stay alert to sabotage of infrastructure and follow authorities’ instructions; airspace violations have occurred near Ukraine’s border. German and Lithuanian border controls, and entry from Belarus or Kaliningrad, may cause delays and restrictions. In Warsaw and Kraków, beware of taxi overcharging and fraud; pickpockets, car theft, spiked drinks and card fraud occur. Winter air pollution exceeds EU limits in larger cities and southern-border mountain valleys.
Exercise normal precautions when travelling to Poland, as travel is generally safe. A buffer zone along the Belarus border includes parts of the Białowieża Wilderness, where visitors cannot cross the border to walk or cycle, and access to Białowieża National Park and other attractions may be restricted.

Exercise normal security precautions
Exercise normal security precautions in Poland. Pay particular attention near the Ukrainian border because projectiles from the conflict in Ukraine and falling debris have entered Polish airspace. Guard against pickpocketing and theft on transport, at tourist sites and around hotels, and be alert to fraud, cybercrime, harassment and drink spiking. Avoid demonstrations and large gatherings, follow local authorities and take precautions against terrorism.

Take normal precautions when travelling to Poland, carrying a valid passport or ID card because temporary border controls may cause delays at land borders with Lithuania and Germany. Entry is refused for travellers without valid documents or with forged documents, and restrictions apply near the Belarus border in Podlaskie Voivodeship. Ensure your driving licence and vehicle documents are valid, and check local traffic rules. Polish pharmacies accept Estonian digital prescriptions.

Exercise normal precautions in Poland, but remain vigilant near the eastern border because of drone activity, particularly in the Carpathian, Lublin and Podlaskie voivodeships, and follow local instructions. Temporary checks on the German and Lithuanian borders may delay crossings. In Krakow, check Clean Transport Zone vehicle requirements before entering. Expect long waits at some Belarus and Ukraine border crossings, and do not enter with a vehicle registered in Russia.
Exercise normal precautions when travelling to Poland. Pickpocketing can occur in crowded public areas and on public transport, while some reports concern spiked drinks and money taken from bank cards in bars and night clubs. Some roads are in poor condition, winter driving can be severe, and fatal accidents occur. Separately, avoid all travel to Ukraine for any purpose; citizens crossing into Poland from Ukraine should seek assistance.

Use normal precautions in Poland, but stay informed and follow authorities because Russian drone attacks occurred in Ukraine's border area, 20 kilometres from Poland, where access is restricted. Some crossings with Belarus, Ukraine and Kaliningrad are closed, and photographing border areas is forbidden. Beware of spiked drinks and card fraud in nightlife venues, prefer cash and never surrender your bank card. Outside major cities, LGBTQ+ visitors may face hostility.
Singapore advises normal precautions in Poland. Petty theft and pickpocketing occur, especially on public transport and in tourist areas, while robbery is common at main rail stations and on overnight trains; use official taxis and check bar and nightclub bills. Exercise caution around demonstrations, avoid affected areas and take insect-bite precautions in forested areas during summer because of tick-borne encephalitis.

Usual caution
Exercise usual precautions when travelling to Poland, but avoid travel to areas immediately adjacent to the Belarusian border. Avoid crowds at political demonstrations and pickpocket in tourist locations. Unofficial taxis may overcharge, and some nightclub visitors are drugged and then have their debit or credit cards abused. Terrorism cannot be ruled out, rural emergency care may be limited, and the Oder River is polluted, so exercise caution when swimming.
