Hong Kong advises normal precautions for Svalbard and Jan Mayen.

Level since 29 Apr 2022
Netherlands0Normal precautions
Colour code green: no special risks

Exercise normal precautions for Svalbard, but remain alert for polar bears, avalanches, and cracks in the ice. If leaving the inhabited area of Longyearbyen, always go with a guide or resident carrying a weapon, and take precautions against avalanches. Drugs are prohibited and penalties are much heavier than in the Netherlands, while limited health care makes travel insurance especially important, and serious cases may require treatment on the Norwegian mainland.
