Australia advises avoiding all travel for Chad.
Avoid all travel to Chad because of the unstable political situation. Estonian citizens require a visa, and entry or stay conditions may change without immediate notice. Estonia has no representation in Chad, so consular assistance is available from the nearest European Union member state mission.
Hungary advises avoiding all travel for Chad.
Avoid all travel to Chad and consider evacuation. At borders with Libya, Central African Republic, Niger, Sudan and Cameroon's Far North, excluding N'Djamena, and in Lac Region and around Lake Chad, evacuate and stop travel. Boko Haram and ISWAP are active, with risks of armed clashes, terrorism and kidnapping. Elsewhere, including N'Djamena, mines and unexploded ordnance remain throughout, especially in the north and east, while Sudan's conflict threatens security.
Avoid all travel to Chad and, if already there, leave as soon as possible or take maximum caution. Warnings include unrest, road robberies, crime, terrorism, kidnapping, malaria, waterborne diseases and limited medical care. Avoid the 30 kilometre border strips with Libya, Niger, Nigeria, Cameroon, Sudan and the Central African Republic, the Lake Chad region and northern provinces; N'Djamena is the only exception to the advice to avoid nonessential travel elsewhere.
Avoid all travel to Chad because of the security situation. The advice covers tourist and visiting trips, business trips, and all other types of travel.
Avoid all travel to Chad because crime, terrorism, unrest, kidnapping, landmines and inadequate health infrastructure create severe risks, including limited access to routine and emergency medical care. Outside N’Djamena, the government has extremely limited ability to provide emergency assistance and restricts its own staff’s travel. Landmines and unexploded ordnance are especially hazardous in Tibesti, Borkou, Ennedi-Est and Ennedi-Ouest provinces, Sila in the east, and Moyen-Chari in the south.
Avoid non-essential travel to Chad because of violent crime on overland routes, snipers and mines in former combat zones. Do not travel to border regions with Libya, the Central African Republic or Cameroon, and avoid non-essential travel to N'Djamena because of the high risk of attacks. Areas around Lake Chad are especially dangerous. Protect against mosquitoes and seek prompt medical care for dengue symptoms.
Avoid non-essential travel to Chad. Do not travel to Ennedi except Fada and Amdjarass, Tibesti, Borkou's north and east, western Kanem, Lac except Bol, Ouaddaï except Abéché, Lake Chad and most border zones; N'Djamena, Bongor and main roads are exceptions. Risks include terrorism, attacks, kidnappings, violent crime, fighting, landmines, drone attacks, protests and an eastern humanitarian crisis. Drug use risks severe penalties; LGBTQ+ people face strict penalties, discrimination and aggression.
Germany advises a high degree of caution for Chad, and avoiding all travel for parts of it.
Chad requires a visa, police registration for stays over 72 hours, and proof of yellow fever vaccination when arriving from a listed transmission risk country. Check health advice and insurance because malaria, cholera, dengue and altitude sickness in parts of Chad are named risks. Use boiled or bottled water, avoid ice, declare restricted or taxable goods, and carry valid travel documents.
Avoid nonessential travel to Chad, including N'Djamena, due to terrorism, violent crime and civil unrest. Avoid all travel within 30 km of borders, in Lac, northern Tibesti and Ennedi, Borkou except Faya Largeau, Kanem west of Mao, Sila, Wadi Fira, and Ouaddaï except Abéché. Rebel attacks, kidnapping and mines make the Sudan and Central African Republic borders and eastern areas dangerous; avoid all travel to Niger border areas.
Avoid all travel to northern Chad, western Kanem Province, the Lake Chad region and within 30 km of every border because instability, insurgency, terrorism, kidnapping and attacks create serious risks. Avoid non-essential travel to the rest of Chad, where protests may be dispersed with live ammunition, and robbery, carjacking and murder also occur. Visitors should avoid demonstrations and large gatherings, observe curfews and be ready to leave at short notice.
Avoid all travel to southern Chad, Nigeria and Cameroon border areas, and the Lake Chad region because of Boko Haram operations. N'Djamena requires increased caution because of terrorist attacks and foreigner abductions. Also avoid northern Chad because of Islamic radicals, Bourkou-Ennedi-Tibesti province, especially north of Faya Largeau, and borders with Sudan and the Central African Republic. Limit travel to the rest of Chad to strictly necessary journeys.
