Australia advises avoiding all travel for Yemen.
Its level on one scale, its own wording, and a summary of its advice written from its own text
Australia advises avoiding all travel for Yemen.
Avoid all travel to Yemen, including Socotra, because fighting and an unpredictable security situation create a general danger to life and limb. Al-Qaeda is increasingly targeting foreigners, with an increased risk of kidnapping, while past kidnappings and terrorist attacks have occurred. Piracy cannot be ruled out in Yemen's waters, and consular assistance is unavailable to those in distress while on Yemeni territory.
Avoid all travel to Yemen and leave as soon as it can be done safely. The internal conflict and rising regional tensions create risks of attacks, unrest, abduction, murder and sudden military escalation, while Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb conditions have worsened; travel, roads, ports and airspace may be disrupted. In Aden, protests and violence may occur, and travellers should avoid military sites, strategic infrastructure and large gatherings.
Avoid all travel to Yemen, including Socotra Island, because armed conflict, terrorist attacks, kidnapping and a volatile security situation create severe risks. Leave the country if safe to do so, as commercial departure options are extremely limited and consular assistance is also extremely limited. Fighting is especially prevalent around Marib, Al Jawf and Taiz, while Socotra has factional clashes and piracy risks in the Gulf of Aden.
Avoid all travel to Yemen, and advises citizens currently in the country to leave. The entire territory is classified as highly risky, including Socotra, amid armed conflict, fragmented state authority, armed groups and the Houthis' involvement in the wider regional conflict. Airstrikes, missile and drone attacks and other incidents may affect different parts of the country without warning, and consular assistance is significantly limited.
Germany advises avoiding all travel for Yemen.
Hungary advises avoiding all travel to Yemen because conflict, airstrikes, mines, terrorism, kidnapping and an unpredictable security situation make travel unsafe. Those in the country should leave immediately. Hadramaut and Al-Mahra face tense conditions and possible military operations, Socotra is unsafe, and Red Sea shipping faces terrorist attack risk. An air, sea and land embargo applies at all ports and border crossings, apart from crossings approved by the coalition.
Do not travel to Yemen because terrorism, civil unrest, armed conflict, landmines, kidnapping and health risks make travel dangerous. Irish citizens already there should leave immediately and remain alert to conditions. Northern Yemen is subject to intense air strikes and must be avoided, while areas controlled by the Internationally Recognised Government remain volatile and are also not advised for travel. Road safety is particularly poor outside towns and cities.
Evacuate anyone already in Yemen and stop travel for any purpose to any part of Yemen, including Socotra Island, because armed conflict, terrorism and kidnappings create an unstable situation. Military operations by the Southern Transitional Council and fighting involving the government and Houthis have affected southern governorates and Aden, where clashes continue even in government held areas. Instability on the mainland can suspend all flights to and from Socotra.
Avoid all travel to Yemen because security is poor, with armed confrontations and airstrikes, terrorist attacks, abductions, arbitrary detention, crime and landmines. Leave if safely possible; detention without reason occurs especially in Sana’a and other Houthi-controlled cities. Do not sail pleasure boats, sailing ships or cargo ships in the Gulf of Aden or parts of the Red Sea because pirates are active; mountainous areas face earthquakes and landslides.
Avoid all travel to Yemen because the civil war and conflicts create serious risks and uncertainties, including risks associated with overland travel and strict border controls by neighbouring countries. The wider Middle East is also subject to a direction to defer all travel. Singaporeans currently in Yemen should leave immediately, while those who remain should stay vigilant, monitor developments, and avoid protests and large gatherings.
Slovenia advises citizens to leave Yemen as soon as possible and avoid all travel because security conditions are serious and uncontrolled. Terrorist attacks, kidnapping by armed groups, mines, unexploded explosives, protests, violence, arbitrary arrests, disappearances, crime and inadequate health care create major risks, while consular assistance may be limited. Be especially cautious outside urban areas and in isolated Hadramawt and Shabwah, where terrorism risk is highest.
Avoid all travel to Yemen and leave the country if you are there because conflict affects the north, unrest affects the south, and terrorist attacks target foreigners and foreign interests across much of the country, including Sana'a. Kidnapping risk is high, particularly in southern areas.
Avoid all travel to Yemen. Terrorist attacks are very likely, with the threat heightened in Abyan, Marib, Hadramawt and Shabwah, where AQAP and Islamic State-Yemen have tribal connections. Attacks on security forces and the Houthis are increasing nationwide; conflict has severely limited emergency services, while medical facilities are poor away from main towns and cities.
Do not travel to Yemen for any reason, including Socotra, because of terrorism, civil war and unrest, violent crime, health risks, kidnapping and landmines. The U.S. government cannot provide emergency services, and damaged infrastructure has severely limited medical care. Houthi hostilities also threaten Saudi Arabia and shipping in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandeb, while diseases are spreading in Houthi-controlled areas.
