Jamaica recorded 199,326 visitor arrivals in December 2025, down 34.1% on the same month a year earlier and at 70.9% of the December 2019 level. The year to date stood 10.3% below the same period of the previous year. This was the fifth consecutive month in which arrivals fell compared with the year before, and December 2025 sat 31.5% below the average of the three years before the period.
Arrivals through the second half of 2025 moved against the year before in varying degrees. July 2025 stood at 298,434, up 15.5% on the year and above the 2019 mark, while August at 237,209 and September at 162,498 were both modestly lower. The shortfall then widened: October 2025 was down 21.3% on the year, November fell 68.0% to 70,081, and December 2025 came in at the 199,326 noted above.
Among 22 countries in the region reporting this month, Jamaica ranked last by change on the year. In December 2025, the Bahamas was up 2.3%, Costa Rica 13.4% and the Dominican Republic 10.5%, while Honduras recorded 8.6% in October 2025. Jet fuel averaged $1.97 a gallon, down 6.3% on the year, and the economy grew 0.1% in 2025. Forecasts for the first quarter of 2026 point to falls of 41.0% in January, 40.1% in February and 38.4% in March.
