The Bahamas recorded 131,632 visitor arrivals in August 2026, up 1.6% on the same month a year before. The total stood at 90.7% of the level seen in August 2019 and was 4.6% below the average of the three years before. The year to date figure was 4.3% higher than the same months a year earlier, marking a tenth consecutive month of growth. The last August to exceed this level was 2024.
March 2026 set a record at 228,693 arrivals, 6.3% above the year before and 9.3% above the three year average. July 2026 reached 207,139 (+8.2%), June 197,958 (+5.1%), May 179,548 (+2.8%) and April 190,086 (+1.4%), all running ahead of 2019. Among eight countries in the region, the Bahamas ranked fifth by year on year change. Results elsewhere have been mixed, with Costa Rica down 5.1% in August 2026, Panama up 14.2% in June 2026 and Turks and Caicos up 13.8% in June 2026.
Jet fuel stood at $3.72 a gallon in August 2026, up 84.0% on a year earlier. Economic growth in 2026 is projected at 2.5%. Forward indicators point to a September 2026 rise of 20.7% on the year, followed by a 4.0% gain in October 2026 and a 4.0% fall in November 2026.
