Antigua and Barbuda recorded 22,262 visitor arrivals in August 2026, down 1.3% on the same month a year earlier but still 126.1% of the August 2019 level. The figure was 0.1% below the average of the three previous Augusts. It was the fifth month in a row to fall on the year, with the last time August was higher dating to 2025. Year to date arrivals were 0.9% above the same period a year earlier. The best month on record remains December 2024 at 38,584.
August's arrivals of 22,262 sat below the four months before it, including July 2026 at 27,677, June at 22,347, May at 24,139 and April at 28,563. Only March 2026, at 36,708 and up 3.7% on the year, showed growth in the recent run. Antigua and Barbuda ranked seventh out of eight countries in the region for the change on a year in August.
Among Caribbean rivals sharing United States, United Kingdom and Canada markets, Saint Lucia fell 0.9% in June 2026, Grenada 1.5% and Saint Kitts and Nevis 9.4%, while Saint Vincent and the Grenadines rose 1.5%. Turks and Caicos Islands rose 13.8% and Belize was up 1.5% in December 2016. Jet fuel stood at $3.72 a gallon in August 2026, up 84.0% on a year. Economic growth for 2026 is projected at 2.4%. Forecasts point to arrivals rising 10.3% in September, falling 0.3% in October and rising 2.3% in November.
