Brazil recorded 576,276 arrivals in August 2026, unchanged from a year earlier. The figure was 137.9% of the same month in 2019 and the highest for any August on record, though well below the all-time peak of 1,483,669 reached in January 2025. It stood 27.2% above the average for the three years before, while the year to date sat 1.2% below the same period a year earlier.
In the months leading up to August, arrivals moved unevenly. March 2026 was the busiest of the year so far at 1,053,098, up 13.3% on a year and 172.3% of 2019. April fell 13.9% on a year to 591,049, while May recovered with a 5.4% rise to 486,262. June eased back 0.6% to 442,048 and July slipped 1.1% to 613,248 before August held flat.
Brazil ranked sixth of eight countries in the region by year on year change in August 2026, at 0.0%. Argentina rose 13.5% and the Dominican Republic gained 2.6%, while Costa Rica fell 5.1% and Colombia was down 16.4% in June 2026. Bolivia surged 47.4% in July 2026. The real was 6.3% stronger against the euro on a year, jet fuel cost $3.72 a gallon, up 84.0%, and growth was projected at 2.2% in 2026. Forecasts point to 0.2% in September, 2.1% in October and a 4.3% November fall.
