Bahrain recorded 1,375,115 visitor arrivals in December 2025, up 0.2% on the same month a year earlier and 135.9% of the December 2019 level. The figure marks the highest for this calendar month on record. For the year to date, arrivals were 2.1% above the previous year. Despite the record, Bahrain ranked ninth among nine Middle East and Africa countries with this measure for change on a year.
December followed a mixed run of recent months. November 2025 saw 1,420,189 arrivals, down 0.6% on a year, while October rose 6.3% and August 5.8%. September slipped 2.8%. The best month on record remains January 2025 at 1,544,860. December sat 4.9% above the average of the three years before, a smaller margin than the 10.8% and 14.6% gains recorded in November and October respectively.
Regional rivals fared better, with South Africa up 8.4% on a year in December and Jordan up 20.6%. Jet fuel stood at $1.97 a gallon, down 6.3% on a year. The economy grew 3.5% in 2025. Forward indicators are uneven, with January 2026 forecast to fall 4.3% on a year and February 4.0%, before March is projected to rise 16.2%.
