In September 2026, Jordan recorded 561,952 tourist arrivals, up 21.4% on the same month a year earlier. The total reached 149.7% of the September 2019 level, the highest figure for that calendar month on record. Year to date arrivals were 3.2% above the same period a year before, extending a run of four consecutive months up on the year.
The September reading followed an August peak of 823,707 arrivals, the best month on record, which was 15.5% higher than a year earlier and 136.8% of 2019. July brought 666,747 arrivals, up 18.0%, while June registered 491,733, +1.8%. Among four Middle East countries tracked for September, Jordan ranked first by year on year change. European comparisons in summer months included Malta at +14.7% in July and Slovenia at +10.9%.
The wider context included jet fuel at $4.39 a gallon in September 2026, up 110.1% on a year, with economic growth projected at 2.7% for 2026. Forward looking figures pointed to a softer period ahead, with October 2026 forecast at +3.3% on a year, followed by falls of 5.2% in November and 6.8% in December.
