Ghana closes the year with record December visitor arrivals

Ghana recorded 141,186 visitor arrivals in December 2025, up 11.4% on the same month a year earlier. This is the highest figure for any December on record and marks the best single month on record. The increase extends a run of five consecutive months in which arrivals have risen compared with the previous year.

December's total of 141,186 stood well above the volumes posted in the preceding months. November 2025 saw 114,893 arrivals (+4.5% year on year), followed by October 112,362 (+1.8%), September 105,594 (+2.1%), August 117,827 (+3.5%) and July 113,919 (-6.6%). This marks a clear upward swing after the mid-year dip.

In the regional context, Ghana placed seventh in the year-on-year change ranking among ten Middle East and Africa countries for December 2025. Jet fuel cost $1.97 a gallon in the same month, a 6.3% decline from a year earlier. Meanwhile, the Ghanaian economy expanded by 6.0% in 2025. These figures illustrate the broader environment in which the visitor arrival record was set.
