Bhutan recorded 26,040 tourist arrivals in September 2026, a rise of +379.1% on the same month a year earlier. This is the highest figure for this calendar month on record. The country ranked first among five Asia Pacific nations for year on year change in arrivals for the month.

Arrivals have built up over recent months after a softer patch. April 2026 saw 30,345 visitors, up +5.8% on a year, before May 2026 reached 47,343 (+58.4%) and June 2026 followed at 25,195 (+84.3%). July 2026 eased to 9,762 (+101.2%) and August 2026 to 10,486, with the year on year comparison for August not available.

The wider context shows jet fuel priced at $4.39 a gallon in September 2026, up +110.1% on the previous year. Economic growth in 2026 is projected at 7.0%. The September total sits well below the year's peak of 47,343 in May 2026 but above the summer lows of July and August.
