August 2026 brought 254,877 tourist arrivals to Cambodia, down 24.7% on a year and at 49.1% of the same month in 2019. The year to date was 44.4% below the same months a year before. It was the 15th consecutive month below the previous year, with the last time August was higher being 2025. The best month on record remains December 2019, at 712,462.
Cambodia ranked 16th out of 16 Asia Pacific countries on the annual change, sitting at the bottom of the regional table. In August 2026, Maldives arrivals rose 1.7% and Sri Lanka fell 3.3%, while Australia was up 0.3%. Earlier readings showed India down 3.7% in December 2024, Laos up 10.8% in December 2024 and New Zealand up 8.1% in December 2025.
Recent months show a narrowing decline: March 2026 fell 43.3% on a year, April 48.3%, May 57.5%, June 48.5% and July 29.2% before August's 24.7% drop. The August figure was 43.4% below the average of the three years before. The jet fuel price stood at $3.72 a gallon in August 2026, up 84.0% on a year. Economic growth for 2026 was projected at 3.0%.
