Fiji posts a record August for visitor arrivals

Fiji recorded 99,963 visitor arrivals in August 2026, up 0.2% on the same month a year earlier and the highest August figure on record. This was the third month in a row with arrivals above the year before, and Fiji ranked 9th by year-on-year change among 16 regional markets reporting for August.

Recent months show a mixed pattern. July 2026 reached 105,791, up 6.5% on a year and the country's all-time high. June 2026 followed at 98,522, a rise of 6.3%. The two months before that slipped, with May at 85,405 (down 1.4%) and April at 79,724 (down 0.8%). March 2026 stood out with 71,765, up 12.4%.

The wider backdrop included a world jet fuel price of $3.72 a gallon in August 2026, up 84.0% on a year. Fiji's projected economic growth for 2026 stands at 1.9%, the broader conditions in which these visitor arrivals were recorded.
