Where Denmark stands, June 2026

Denmark records its strongest June on record as arrivals extend a long run of growth

Denmark recorded 423,409 arrivals in June 2026, up 6.7% on the same month a year earlier and 125.9% of the June 2019 level. It is the highest figure for that calendar month on record and extends a run of 15 consecutive months ahead of the year before. The year to date sits 8.1% above the same months of the previous year.

The month also stood 13.1% above the average of the three years before. Earlier 2026 months tracked a similar pattern, with arrivals in March up 14.6% on a year and 150.6% of the 2019 level, while May showed 386,270 arrivals, up 8.5% on a year. January and February likewise rose by 11.4% and 8.1% respectively, though June's reading of 125.9% of 2019 was the lowest such share of the year so far.

Among 38 European countries, Denmark ranked sixth by the year on year change in June. Rivals were mixed: Albania led with a 20.6% rise and Romania grew 9.5%, while Bulgaria and Cyprus fell 5.1% and 8.3% respectively, and Ireland slipped 1.4%. Slovenia edged up 2.2%. The wider backdrop included jet fuel at $3.04 a gallon, up 45.3% on a year, the krone 0.2% weaker against the euro, and a 3.7% economic growth projection for 2026.
